St. Ann Catholic Parish members in the 7th & 8th grades and older who have not been confirmed are preparing for Confirmation this year.  The Sacrament of Confirmation will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 here at St. Ann Catholic Church.

The preparation for Confirmation is an event of importance to you, your family, and the whole parish community.  You are not preparing alone, but with the support, encouragement, and prayers of the entire parish community.

Confirmation is one of the seven sacraments of the Church, and, more specifically, one of the three Sacraments of Initiation into the Church.  Those who have been baptized continue on the path of Christian initiation through this sacrament.  Those who are confirmed receive the Holy Spirit who was sent upon the Apostles by our Lord on Pentecost.

There will be a  MANDATORY MEETING for parents only on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Sacred Heart Church  At this meeting, Father Tharp will speak about the Sacrament of Confirmation, and I  will briefly discuss curriculum, the retreat, the service project, and fees.

The candidates will be involved in a service project again this year.  The name of the project is “Operation Christmas Child”, and it will begin in early October.  More information on this project will come home soon.

There will be a Confirmation Retreat that all candidates must attend.  This year the retreat will be held here at St. Ann Catholic School on Thursday, October 28th from 8:30-2 p.m.  The retreat will be facilitated by NET Ministries, a group of young adults (ages 19-27) who travel the United States ministering to youth.  This group is recommended by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and presents retreats at many parishes throughout the Archdiocese and the country.  This year’s theme is “You Will Receive Power”.  Each NET retreat team consists of about 10 young men and women who will need to stay with host families while visiting with us.  We may need housing the night before the retreat and the night of the retreat.  As their schedule fills up, adjustments are made.  Please consider being a St. Ann host family for either the ladies or gentlemen on the team.  In the past, the host families had such a wonderful experience that they were glad they volunteered.

In preparation for Confirmation, a practice for candidates and sponsors will be held the evening before Confirmation.  This practice will be on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church.  Attendance at this practice is MANDATORY.

**PREP/Homeschool Students please attach a recent photo of the candidate to this information.  All candidates’ photographs will be displayed in the back of Church so that the parish community can pray for them as they prepare for Confirmation.

We realize that you and the candidates may have many questions.  Please feel free to call school at 863-0604.  We will be sending information home to you as we proceed with preparation.  We want to again stress the importance of all involved in preparing for the Sacrament.  We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to discuss the items brought home.

Thank you,

Fr. Tharp Amy  Nusky
