Beacons of Light: Phase Three: “Culture”
In early September, I hope to present to the combined Parish Council the final draft of the Immaculate Heart of Mary “vision” statement. We will then present it to the entire congregation for comment, and then officially to the Archdiocese.
The next step in the Beacons process is to identify and lift up the various cultural adaptations that have evolved in each unique parish and determine how these can be incorporated into and maintained for the combined “Family of Parishes.” More to come!
DO NOT FALL FOR SCAMS!!!!
I keep running this article because there are new scams everyday
Remember I NEVER solicit funds, donations, favors, or any request of any kind over the telephone, text, email, carrier pigeon, drone, etc. NEVER! Do not allow yourself to be taken in by scammers. Even if they have my recorded voice, be assured it is computer generated fake! It is not me!!!
Reminder for volunteers who work with or around children
Please be aware that failure to register with and complete the requirements of Safe Parish will result in your inability to continue to work with or around children in any parish and/or school setting. We have been informed by the Archdiocese that there can be NO EXCEPTIONS.

Reflection on Scripture:
“As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” These words from Joshua are often quoted as a family motto, and sometimes displayed over the front door of a family home. The words are especially appropriate in today’s homogenized religious environment. It is fashionable today to say that you don’t affiliate with any organized religious group, or that you are a generalist and feel comfortable with all religions. Faith by default is not real faith in Jesus Christ. He either “is” your Lord and savior or he is relegated to unimportance as “anomalous religious clutter.”
Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God." By these words, Peter speaks the truth. Jesus Christ is the one and only way to salvation. In quantum physics, we must accommodate “probability” as being as close to truth as we can achieve. Science is empirical. It is constructed by reason, but is still only empirical evidence. Faith on the other hand comes directly from God. It is a gift that comes only from God. Divine Truth is not accumulated or quantified. It simply is! Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God. Jesus is the truth. He simply is!
